The Trail to the Cabin; banner on silk

$85.00

1 in stock

This painting measures 11.5 x 30 inches.  In anticipation of the holiday season ahead, I’ve tackled some relevant themes.  Lines are done with gold gutta to make the piece glint in the light.

Description

This original painting is done on habotai silk by hand. A weary hunter heads home to his warm cabin in the high country as his quarry looks on from the shadows. The painting has been prepared for hanging with loops to attach it to your choice of hanger.  After the initial drawing (done with gutta), I use acrylic paints to complete the picture.   This makes the painting light-resistant, so that it can be hung in a window, as a “faux stained glass” feature in your home!  There is no need to frame the painting.  The silk is tough; the Chinese used to use it for armour, after all!  Care of the piece is simple.  Creases can be removed with a steam iron on the silk setting (be sure that the signature is backwards on the ironing board), and it can be cleaned in cold water with gentle cleanser and laid flat to dry.
